(Back to all)Giles Gibbins

Giles completed his Master of Architecture at the University of Newcastle, graduating with Honours in 2015. During his studies, he worked at EJE Architecture, contributing to a diverse range of projects across varying scales and typologies, gaining early exposure to the complexities of architectural practice.
Following graduation, Giles joined Bijl Architecture, where he focused on high-end boutique residential projects. During this time, he developed strong technical and design capabilities, gaining comprehensive experience across all phases of project delivery—from concept design through to contract administration. He successfully led several projects through the construction phase, building a solid foundation in project management and client engagement.
In 2019, Giles spent a year living and working abroad, freelancing for a number of international practices. This experience broadened his professional perspective and deepened his understanding of global architectural approaches and design cultures.
In 2021, Giles joined Collins and Turner, where he has contributed to a wide range of residential and public projects. He is currently the project lead on the Sydney Harbour Bridge Cycleway, a major piece of civic infrastructure, as well as the Tivoli Avenue residential development in Rose Bay—both projects are currently under construction.
On the Cycleway project, Giles is responsible for coordinating architectural works directly connected to active transport infrastructure. This role involves navigating a high level of scrutiny, including the State Significant Development Application (SSDA), Design Integrity Panel (DIP) reviews, and extensive public consultation.
He leads the coordination of complex stakeholder groups, manages interfaces to the multidisciplinary consultant team, and ensures the delivery of high design quality throughout all project stages.
Giles is a Registered Architect in New South Wales and has also contributed to architectural education as a casual academic tutor at both the University of Technology Sydney (UTS) and the University of New South Wales (UNSW)
