Sydney Harbour Bridge Cycleway
Connections: Harold Cazneux – The Arch in the Sky, 1930
Transport for NSW has launched a global design competition for urban design leaders to shape a critical piece of infrastructure for one of Australia’s most famous architectural icons, the Sydney Harbour Bridge.
We are excited to share that our team, working in collaboration with Aspect Studios, Yerrabingin, EOC Engineers and Design 5 Architects has been selected are one of three groups selected for this once in a generation opportunity.
Around 2,000 cycle trips are taken across the Sydney Harbour Bridge cycleway on weekdays, making it the most heavily used cycleway in Sydney. A cycleway at the northern end of the Sydney Harbour Bridge will finally complete the missing piece of crucial bicycle infrastructure and provide an equitable and graceful piece of civic transportation for all cyclists.
Our team is incredibly honoured to have this chance and move into the next phase of the competition. This project will make a positive contribution to the health and wellbeing of the community, and improve public accessibility around the harbour, all whilst respecting the site’s significance and heritage.
