St.Canices Kitchen – Development Approval
Our project for St Canice’s Kitchen in Rushcutters Bay has recently received development consent from City of Sydney
The project will involve the transformation of the existing church crypt and courtyard to create a state-of-the-art, full-service kitchen and a versatile dining hall. The new design will be accessible via a beautifully landscaped courtyard entry, featuring native planting designed by Zoe Halpin.
St Canice’s Kitchen plays a crucial role as an outreach service of St Canice’s Parish, committed to supporting individuals experiencing homelessness and social exclusion. Operating daily, it provides over 150 men and women with nutritious meals in a safe and welcoming environment.
The kitchen’s success relies on the dedication of volunteers who assist with meal preparation, service, and various operational tasks. Volunteers are essential to its mission, and the parish encourages community members to get involved and join this vital volunteer network. In addition to providing meals, St Canice’s Kitchen offers a range of support services designed to provide holistic assistance to those in need, addressing both immediate and long-term challenges faced by the community.
This project is generously supported by Payce Foundation with construction set to commence in early 2026
