Habilis – ULI Asia Pacific Awards for Excellence
We are thrilled to announce that Habillis Summer Hill has been named winner of the Asia Pacific Award for Excellence at the ULI Urban Land Institute Awards, held this week in Shanghai.
Selected from a distinguished field of entries across Australia and the Asia Pacific region, we are deeply honoured by this recognition. ULI is the world’s oldest and largest cross-disciplinary network of real estate and land use experts, dedicated to setting the standard for excellence in development practice. The award was accepted by Habilis Founder and CEO, Professor Olav Nielssen, on behalf of the board and project team.
Habilis is a not-for-profit organisation committed to providing long-term, purpose-built accommodation for individuals who have experienced homelessness as a result of severe mental illness. The project is designed to break the cycle — delivering stable, secure living environments supported by coordinated on-site services.
Since opening in May 2024, the project has reached 100% occupancy and last year delivered over $5 million in taxpayer savings — demonstrating that the model works. For residents, the results have been transformative, with life and health outcomes improving dramatically.
